An in-depth study of basic treatments for the conservation and restoration of paper bindings and case bindings both in paper and cloth. Practical training in dry cleaning, restoration and fixing of damaged papers, unsewing and sewing techniques, reparation and conservation of the original covers, consolidation, mending, stabilizing and retouching.

This workshop will provide an attentive analysis of the original materials and the identification of the causes of damage. This accurate evaluation will dictate the kind of treatment to be adopted for each particular case.

The participants will work with their own books and will be guided in the choice of the more suitable steps to be taken in each particular case.
