A residential 8-day workshop divided into two.

PAINTING AND DYEING THE PAPER
During the first two days we will deal with dyeing and painting big sheets of paper with alcohol and water colours, experimenting with different techniques, papers and sizes and their relations. The choice of the technique will depend on individual liking.

One day leisure.

LOOSE AND SIMPLE BINDINGS
Unusual booklets, pamphlets, cases, folders and so forth, based just on folding, cutting and sometimes sewing, without any glue will be the subject of the second session.
Hedi Kyle and Carmencho Arregui have given us some of their models that we will present alongside our own.
A series of different materials, techniques and tricks will give you a gust of fresh air to change your point of view in bookbinding.
All the models will be completed during the first four days, while individual variations with the use of personal papers created in the first session will be made during the last day.

Booking priority will be given to participants wishing to follow the entire programme.
The possibility of attending only the 2-day Painting workshop or the 5-day Bookbinding workshop will depend on vacancies.

LOCATION
This workshop will find place in Vacciago, located among the green hills near the Lake of Orta. The very old Villa 'Il Bocciolo' will give us an attractive accommodation. For a very cheap price we can offer you Bed & Breakfast from 21th to 30th June (9 nights).
We can cook and eat all together. Otherwise, we can suggest you some other solutions like hotels in the neighbourhood.

TIMETABLE
The lessons will take place from 9h30 am till 5h30 pm (including lunch break).
Between the two sessions (dyeing and bookbinding), the program includes a break of one day, to enjoy the surroundings.
Tuition will be in English, but the teachers can assist students in Dutch, Italian, French and German if required.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
The registration fee is 975 EUR per person, including B&B (9 nights), welcome dinner, coffee break and costs of materials, provided with tools by the organizers (775 EUR without Bed & Breakfast).
In case there would be places free, it can be possible to follow just the 2-days "Painting and dyeing papers" workshop (fee 290 EUR including B&B (3 nights), 225 EUR without B&B) or just the 5-days "Loose and simple bindings" workshop (fee 710 EUR including B&B (6 nights), 575 EUR without B&B).

Travel and meals (lunch and dinner) expenses are for the account of students.
Membership to the Association is requested (25 EUR).

Closing date for enrolment and payment of the fee: 26th May, 2009.
In case of cancellation after this date, the workshop fee will not be refunded.
The places available are limited: we cannot guarantee places requested at the last moment.
Payment order will determine the enrolment order.
