When we think of a jewel we usually imagine it to be made in noble metals and precious stones. Paper is surely the last material we would think of, because of its fragility.
And yet, even a sheet of paper can be transformed into a strong and lasting jewel.
By using an old technique called 'quilling', the art of rolling thin paper strips, it is possible to obtain wonderful necklaces, earrings, rings and brooches.
This technique is in itself quite simple, what imports are the imagination and the fun we put into making a unique jewel. This workshop is open to all of you and will last two days.

For this time of the year, we have conceived a course on a specific theme: jewels to be worn during the festivities, to give as presents or to use as Christmas tree decorations.
Different types of earrings that may become basic shapes for long gilt or silvery necklaces, for you or for your tree: all this may look rather bold or kitsch but it is great fun!

You will be able to find new ideas that you might want to develop on your own later on. We will be using the quilling technique with Christmas colours and you will also become familiar with a new technique close to paperboard work, by lining light boards with delicate Japanese paper.
