Like in the first workshop again a series of different materials, techniques and expedients will give you a gust of fresh air to change your point of view in bookbinding.
The themes explored are suited to anyone interested in paper and book arts as well as anyone who might be looking for new ways to present ideas and projects.
We welcome participants from all related professional fields, such as graphic designers, artists, bookbinders, calligraphers, architects and more. No special skills are required to successfully follow the workshop.
In order to create a high learning environment, materials will be pre-cut for all participants.
LOCATION
Starting this year, our traditional Summer class moves to the Franciscan seventeenth century convent in Monte Mesma, a few kilometers from the Vacciago village well known to many of you. A fascinating accommodation in a serene location, among the green woods of the Special Nature Reserve of Monte Mesma, a hill 576 m. high, on the eastern side of Lake Orta. For a very cheap price we can host you in single rooms (B&B and meals included) from 19th to 26th June (7 nights).
We can cook and eat all together. Otherwise, we can suggest you some other solutions like hotels and B&B in the neighbourhood (map).
TIMETABLE
Arrival Sunday 19th, departure Sunday 26th June.
The lessons will take place from the 20th to the 25th June, from 9h30 am till 5,30 pm (including coffee and lunch break).
Thursday 23rd is free, to allow the participants to enjoy the surroundings, but who likes may keep studying the models in the workshop.
Tuition will be in English, but the teachers can assist students in Dutch, Italian, French and German if required.
REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
The registration fee is 925 EUR per person, including housing and meals (7 nights, starting dinner of Sunday 19th until breakfast of Sunday 26th), coffee break, costs of materials and the use of the tools provided by the organizers (715 EUR without housing and meals).
Travel expenses are for the account of students.
Membership to the Association is requested (25 EUR).
Closing date for enrolment and payment of the fee: May 20th, 2011.
The places available are limited: we cannot guarantee places requested at the last moment.
Payment order will determine the enrolment order.
CANCELLATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Enrolment must be cancelled in writing.
If the cancellation letter is posted four weeks or more before the workshop begins, the participation fee will be refunded minus a 15% cancellation charge.
If the cancellation letter is posted less than four weeks but more than two weeks before the workshop begins, then the participation fee will be refunded minus a 50% cancellation charge.
If the cancellation letter is posted less than two weeks before the workshop begins, then the participation fee will not be refunded.
No refund will be given if students enroll but, without further notification, do not participate at the workshop.
