This binding, devised by Cor Aerssens, is developed starting the need to make a book with a full cardboard binding.
A bald plain book, that doesn't need a covering anymore, so beautiful in its simplicity... (and afterwards waxable).
The book must be able to function as a perfect book without the covering of leather, book cloth, paper and suchlike.
One of the features of the Groninger Binding is part-integration of the two boards with the book block, eliminating the need to affix the block with endpapers.
The book becomes the band, the band is the book.
This method of construction allows a wide choice of variations; during the workshop we will make one of them, but will also have an overview on the different possibilities.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Registration must be made before the closing date.
Participation fee: 170 euro, including coffee breaks, costs of materials and the use of tools provided by the organizers.
Participants must bring a volume to be bound, in sheets and ready to be sewn: ideal size smaller than A5 (approximately 21x15cm) and with thickness between 7 and 12 mm.
Joining the association is necessary: membership 25 euro.
There is limited availability so you are invited to book early.
Payment dates will determine booking priorities.
Closing date for enrolment and payment of the fee: postponed to November 12th, 2012.
CANCELLATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Enrolment must be cancelled in writing. If the cancellation letter is posted four weeks or more before the workshop begins, the participation fee will be refunded minus a 15% cancellation charge.
If the cancellation letter is posted less than four weeks but more than two weeks before the workshop begins, then the participation fee will be refunded minus a 50% cancellation charge.
If the cancellation letter is posted less than two weeks before the workshop begins, then the participation fee will not be refunded.
No refund will be given if students enrol but, without further notification, do not participate at the workshop.
