A basic workshop, introductory to the construction of boxes according to the technique of Dutch master Cor Aerssens. This extraordinary boxmaker has developed a very special technique of construction in over 25 years, at the same time robust and refined.
During a ten years long collaboration, Cor transmitted his method to Cristina, making her one of those who are able and allowed to spread his knowledge.

Learning the basics of this technique allows access to upper-level seminars for the construction of boxes in all forms, with or without hinges.

The first half day will consist in an initial momment of analysis of pre-ade boxes that we can find in our everyday life: each of us will make sketces and costruction drawings trying to better comprehend how they have been made: to understand how to build a box one needs to know how each piece of cardboard has to be placed and why in that specific order.

During the remaining 4 days and a half we will analyze the construction of the base form of a box, meaning rectangular one, without hinges, making two variations of cover boxes that we will bulit if cardboard, with a peculiar multi-layer technique. We will then proceed to to cover them in paper (the covering will be almost entirely made out of one single paper piece).

Cor Aerssens' technique differs from the usual methods of assembling and covering: so this workshop is for both beginners and advanced students who want to expand their knowledge.
