First masterclass which inaugurates a new series of workshops in our offer, the dos rapporté binding is a spine construction developed by Benjamin Elbel that provides books with a great opening and a sleek contemporary character. In this two day workshop we make 2 books: a hardback and a softback.

The hardback is the latest development of the structure, with split boards and is appropriate for thicker books; the softback (also called 'tue-mouche binding') is made of layers of card and has attractive features such as a sewn hinge and yap edges. Appropriate for small, thin books.
 
LOCATION
The course will take place at Professione Libro,
Via Angelo Del Bon, 1 - 20158 MILAN - I
 
TIME
Saturday and Sunday 9.30 am - 6 pm (1h lunch break, coffee break).
It will be possible to eat all together in a bar close to the workshop.
Tuition will be in English, but it’s possible to get a translation in French, German and Italian if required.

MATERIALS
Participants are required to bring their own textblocks. We recommend doing them both the same size (recommended size is A6) so they look good together. However we recommend doing the hardback quite thick (20 mm) and the softback thin (10 mm). After the enrollments participants will receive a detailed list with technical specifications.
 
REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Registration must be made before the closing date.
The participation fee is 255 euro, including coffee breaks, costs of some materials and the use of tools, provided by the organizers.
 
Joining the association is necessary: membership 25 euro.
 
There is limited availability so you are invited to book early.
Payment dates will determine booking priorities.
 
Closing date for enrolment and payment of the fee 18 March, 2017.
 
CANCELLATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Enrolment must be cancelled in writing.
If the cancellation letter is posted four weeks or more before the workshop begins, the participation fee will be refunded minus a 15% cancellation charge.
If the cancellation letter is posted less than four weeks but before the closing date of enrollments, then the participation fee will be refunded minus a 50% cancellation charge.
No refund will be given in case of cancellation after the closing date. Yet, if a person on the waiting list could take over, the fee will be refunded in full (to the exclusion of any membership fee paid contextually, covering the administration costs). 
No refund will be given if, once registered and without further communication, the student doesn't partecipate.
In case the minimum number of participants should not be reached, the course will be cancelled and the whole fee refunded. The confirmation of the feasibility of the workshop will be announced to the participants after the closing of entries, or when the minimum number of enrolments will be reached.

MEET & GREET
During master classes we organise, if possible, a Meet & Greet moment with the guest teacher.
These Meet & Greets are free for everyone who is interested.
