The magnetic box’s original idea belongs to Hélène Jolis, a French book artist and well known teacher of gold tooling techniques. Her idea, developped first by Sün Evrard, was further improved by Eva Szily.
The box is made of 250-400 gsm paper, it feels light and strong at the same time.
Wooden battens, in case covered in paper, reinforce head, tail and in case also the fore-edge; the box is closed with magnetic strips. During the workshop will be taught a model, tailored to a book previously bound by the participants; some variations will also be shown.
Before the workshop, participants will be given informations about materials and the size of the book to bring.
