Origami is a centuries-old art, despite this it continues to renew itself and to find new fields of application in art, fashion, design but also in mathematics and applied sciences.
During the day, which will have a purely technical approach, we will analyze a selection of traditional and contemporary models; working on modules and patterns, connections and pockets, repetition and variation, the seminar aims to offer participants not only an interesting sample of pouch models, pockets, envelopes and bi and three-dimensional containers, but to transmit basic folding techniques that they can then apply to personal projects.
Some topics we will deal with:
- History of origami
- Origami today
- How to read an origami diagram
- How to read an origami model
- How to study an origami model (going beyond the obvious)
- What is the memory of the paper and how to use it
- Sheet subdivision techniques
- How to derive sheets of unusual shapes using sequences of folds (without the need for measuring instruments)
The practice and study of origami are useful for developing and refining:
- Spirit of observation
- Logical and design skills
- Memory
- Creativity
- Concentration
- Accuracy
For beginners and for every level.
