During this course we will develop four models of conservative bindings with flexible paper covers, suitable for modern books as well as old volumes: these are non-invasive structures that, without the use of adhesives, protect the book in a discreet way and offer an excellent opening and use of the text. They offer the great advantage of being able to be easily disassembled and remade with a change of materials or in any case customization of the cover, whatever the content.

The covers will be made of handmade cardboard with natural fibers, or watercolor paper, to allow you to experiment with different types of materials; the book bodies will have blank pages, as we will work on models that will remain as samples for the future.

We will deal with two multi-section structures, with sewings for book bodies of a certain consistency; a single-section binding, which hooks the content to the cover without sewing or gluing it; and, lastly, a cover that protects the seamless structure, custom-made with folds only, totally reversible.

To participate, you must already have basic knowledge of bookbinding, since the basic notions (cutting, creasing, folding, piercing, use of basic tools, grain direction of the paper, etc.) will be taken for granted.
