This course is structured to introduce the correct approach to paper repair, be it loose documents or book pages, analyzing damage, solutions, materials and techniques that can be used to carry out small conservation and restoration interventions, with simple tools within reach of everybody.

It therefore proves suitable for beginners but also a useful compendium for those who already deal with bookbinding and must sometimes solve the problem of torn or incomplete papers, or pages detached from the body of the book.

No special skills are required.

The course takes place entirely online and includes a first introductory theoretical part, which will allow you to deal with specific tools and materials, and the right method of approach to the subject.

Ample space will be given to practical demonstrations, which will include many of the essential fundamental operations, such as dry cleaning, detachment of adhesive tapes, ink solubility tests, washes, reinforcement veiling, tearing sutures, and the reconstruction of the missing parts.
Participants will be sent a kit of material in order to allow them, in between the lessons slots, to practice and experiment on their papers the techniques demonstrated.
