This experimental workshop will be a journey into the study of various folding structures and their application in the design and construction of installations.

Starting from the geometric module as the basic unit of any folding structure, participants will explore its multiplication to generate constructive systems that enable the creation of spatial installations.

Throughout the process, participants will experiment with different materials — such as paper, cardstock, and cardboard — learning how to transform a single modular structure by modifying its geometric parameters to obtain different forms and volumes. They will also explore connection systems between modules, as well as the adaptation of tools and techniques according to material properties and the specific requirements of the folding process.

Each day will be structured into two main sessions:

• Group work sessions (morning): each morning will focus on a specific theme, starting from structures composed of individual modules connected through simple folds, and progressing to more complex configurations developed on larger sheets.

• Free time (afternoon): participants may choose to rest and relax, or continue their individual research and creative exploration based on the morning’s experiments. If needed, they can request support from the teacher.

Over the last two days, work will focus on creating collective installations based on individual projects.

At the end of the workshop, each participant will bring away a rich collection of folding structures, along with the skills needed to apply them within broader design contexts.

A teaching guide included.
