The Long-stitch is one of the oldest methods of sewing book sections to a cover. It can be an easy way to make interesting books and notebooks with flexible covers made of handmade paper, fabrics, vellum or leather, as well as to reproduce the technique on old books.

With Long-stitch sewing the sections are held evenly and the volume opens completely and with ease. No adhesive is needed.

During this workshop we will analyse traditional and modern Long-stitch techniques and we will learn how to make different structures. Such structural variations will help to create a variety of ornamental patterns on the spine, as the sewing thread is always visible when sewn Long-stitch.

The covering materials will include handmade paper and fabrics.

LOCATION
The course will find place at Centro Culturale San Paolo Onlus, in viale Ferrarin 30 - VICENZA - I

TIMETABLE
Lessons will take place from 9h30 am until 6h pm, with about one hour lunch break.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Participation fee 100 euro (students 65 euro) excluding materials, but including and the use of tools provided by the teacher.
Registration must be made before the closing date. Complete and send the registration form you can download here, with the receipt of the payment.

Joining the Associazione Calligrafica Italiana is necessary (30 euro, students 16 euro; this rate is reserved for students not workers within 25 years of age).
Closing date for the enrolment: 18 November, 2016.

MATERIALS
To the participants will be given a detailed list of the needed materials; however, booking it by 18 November 2016, it will be possible to book a kit with precut materials, (20 euro, to be paid directly to the instructor).
