A new module for working with folds on the boundary between screen printing and bookbinding. During the two days we will work preparing the screen printing frames, with a collective work in groups, to then print the sheets that will be used for the contents of the book structures. Test folded models will be created, important prototypes to familiarize yourself with the Blizzard book category, pocket and hinged structures which in their versatility can contain many different formats, from loose papers to bifoli, to booklets and concertinas: it's all about learning the basic structure and then in knowing how to calculate proportions and dimensions.

The course is aimed at all those who want to discover the world of screen printing and creative bookbinding. Perfect for the curious, enthusiasts, designers, illustrators, photographers, artists and all those who want to learn how to make a portable edition of their works.

Two days to navigate by sight between screen printing and bookbinding.

 

DAY I - SCREEN PRINTING with 56Fili

• During the first day we will approach the silk-screen techniques to design the frames and print, with multiple steps, the papers that will be needed to create the prototypes and the final books.

• Introduction to screen printing, frame engraving, color and machine preparation, printing and drying.

• Participants will be divided into working groups. Each group will have the task of printing decorative patterns on paper (supplied by the screen printer) made up of several levels. The printed papers will then be left to dry until the following day.

 

DAY II - HANDCRAFTED BOOKBINDING

• On the second day we will give life to different models, without glue and without sewings, creating the lstructures with strong papers and then filling them with the printed contents, with infinite possible variations and the creation of one-of-a-kind personalized pieces.

• Each participant, using the previously printed sheets, will be able to give free rein to his/her creativity in composing the contents of the books thanks to the structures that allow the interchangeability of the pages.

• We will then move on to the realization of the final project inspired by the structure called Crown.
