UPSIDE-DOWN PERSPECTIVE
From content to form and back
 
Through a collaboration of A14/Daniela Lorenzi and Cristina Balbiano d'Aramengo, the theme of this new series of workshops proposes bookbinding and original print making techniques as instruments for graphic design project planning and production.
Intentionality, technique, form, content, and language are all elements which equally contribute to the successful design, planning, and creation of a book or a folder.
The workshops provide an opportunity to closely look at the world of small publishing houses and limited edition artists books, and draw inspiration from artists and graphic designers projects, as well as from significant experiences in bookbinding.

From gray to color: can we trust our sight?

Light / Shadow
Deafness / Resonance
Quantity / Quality
Depth / Surface
Movement / Fixity

What is the gray?
How many and which grays we know?
In how many ways can you get the gray when printing?
What happens to the gray when meets the colour? And to the colour when  meets the gray?
 
How the eye reacts to the contiguity between the colours?
The colours are also manifested in their interrelation: the gray can enhance or dampen the outcome of this interrelation.
 
What is the simultaneous contrast? How can we use it in our work?

LOCATION
The course will take place at A14 seat, Via Tantardini 7, Milan - I

TIME TABLE
930 am - 6.30 pm (about 1h lunch break)

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Registration must be made before the closing date.
Participation fee: 210 euro, including costs of materials and the use of tools provided by the organizers.

There is limited availability so you are invited to book early.
Payment dates will determine booking priorities.
Closing date for enrolment and payment of the fee: 11 April 2015.

Membership to the Association is requested (25 euro).

CANCELLATION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Enrolment must be cancelled in writing.
If the cancellation letter is posted two weeks or more before the workshop begins, the participation fee will be refunded minus a 15% cancellation charge.
If the cancellation letter is posted less than two weeks but before the closing date of enrollments, then the participation fee will be refunded minus a 50% cancellation charge.
No refund will be given in case of cancellation after the closing date or if, once registered and without further communication, the student doesn't partecipate.
In case the minimum number of participants should not be reached, the course will be cancelled and the whole fee refunded. 
The confirmation of the feasibility of the workshop will be announced to the participants after the closing of entries, or when the minimum number of enrolments will be reached.
